Character visuals for the second season of the TBS Sunday theater drama VIVANT have been unveiled, featuring 16 cast members standing against a desert backdrop. The images center on lead actor Masato Sakai (堺雅人), reprising his role as protagonist Yusuke Nogi.
Also featured are Hiroshi Abe (阿部寛) as public security investigator Mamoru Nozaki, Fumi Nikaido (二階堂ふみ) as physician Kaoru Yuzuki, Tori Matsuzaka (松坂桃李) as Bekkan operative Shun Kurosu, who partners with Nogi in the field, and Kazunari Ninomiya (二宮和也) as Nokoru, a senior member of the shadowy group known as Tent and Nogi’s brother-in-law.
The visuals also include Ryusei Ryu as Kotaro Shinjo, a former subordinate of Nozaki who once monitored Tent; Midoriko Kimura as Bekkan commander Satomi Sakurai; Takashi Yamanaka as Ali, a Tent loyalist; Gaku Hamada as a white-hat hacker known as Shota Tojo; Barslkhagva Batbold as police officer Chinggis in the fictional Republic of Balka; Sumire Hanaoka as hacker Riho Ota, known by the alias “Blue Walker”; and Sae Honma as Jamiin, referred to in the series as the “miracle girl.”
Rounding out the cast, Fumiyo Kohinata appears as Toshihiko Nagano, a Marubishi Corporation executive with a background at Japan’s National Defense Academy, alongside Tomie Drum as Drum, Nozaki’s longtime assistant. New additions for the second season include Kyoko Miyashita, whose role has not yet been disclosed, and Thai actor OHM (Tanapak Jongjaiphar).
Who is VIVANT?
VIVANT is a TBS Sunday theater drama that first aired in 2023, following company employee Yusuke Nogi as he becomes entangled with Bekkan, an unofficial unit operating outside Japan’s Self-Defense Forces. The story weaves together public security, international terrorism, and family drama. Season 2 picks up immediately after the first season’s finale, in which a mysterious red steamed bun reappeared before Nogi. Katsuo Fukuzawa, who created, directed, and produced the original series, returns in all three roles.
VIVANT Season 2 premieres on July 26, airing weekly on Sundays at 21:00 on TBS, with streaming available through TVer, TBS FREE, and U-NEXT.
