Nijisanji VTuber unit ROF-MAO has announced it will resume group activities on November 15, continuing as a three-member unit of Kagami Hayato (加賀美ハヤト), Fuwa Minato (不破湊), and Kaida Haru (甲斐田晴). The group had paused its activities since May 29, 2026, according to an announcement from talent agency ANYCOLOR.

To mark the comeback, ANYCOLOR is running a campaign called “Let’s Push ROF-MAO’s Back,” tied to a fan-message drive launched for the unit’s fifth anniversary. A special advertising display will go up at PickUp Rankin in Shibuya Station’s underground concourse from November 8 through 14, open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with free admission via online reservation.

The display will showcase fan messages submitted through ROF-MAO’s anniversary website alongside messages written on-site, which visitors can physically attach to cutouts of the members’ backs. ANYCOLOR says a livestream to mark the group’s return will air on ROF-MAO’s official YouTube channel, with details to be announced soon on the unit’s official X account.

Who is ROF-MAO?

ROF-MAO is a male VTuber unit under Nijisanji, the VTuber project run by ANYCOLOR, made up of Kagami Hayato, Fuwa Minato, and Kaida Haru. The group is known for variety-style YouTube content and music releases, and has been active for five years as one of Nijisanji’s higher-profile male units.

Nijisanji, launched by ANYCOLOR in 2018, hosts roughly 150 virtual livestreamers across Japan and international branches, producing videos, live events, merchandise, and music under its talent roster.

A six-month hiatus and the comeback plan is… a billboard in Shibuya Station where fans can physically pat cardboard backs. I love it, honestly — Japanese fandom doesn’t just want an announcement tweet, it wants a ritual. No reason is given for the pause, and I’m not going to invent one, but notice how carefully ANYCOLOR frames this: no apology, no explanation, just a date and a parade of merch tie-ins. That’s the house style for idle VTuber groups here — silence during the gap, spectacle for the return. If you’re new to Nijisanji, get used to that rhythm.
