Virtual talent agency Re:AcT announced on July 23 that its VTuber Kyou Hanabasami (花鋏キョウ) has graduated from the agency, effective the end of January 2026. In VTuber culture, “graduation” refers to a talent’s official departure from an agency or the retirement of their virtual persona. Following the announcement, Kyou Hanabasami’s YouTube channel and social media accounts will stop being updated on August 31, 2026.
According to Re:AcT, the agency and Kyou Hanabasami had been discussing her future activities together since before the end of January, and the agency had repeatedly asked her to reconsider and stay. The agency said the announcement was delayed by this ongoing back-and-forth, compounded by a breakdown in communication between the two sides.
Fans can still send gifts and letters through July 31, 2026, with anything received by that date passed along to her. Kyou Hanabasami did not appear at the agency’s recent “Re:AcT SUMMER FES 2026” event. Her most recent public work includes her third album, “Purity,” released on September 17, 2025, and her fifth solo live, “Petallight,” held in October 2025. That show turned out to be her final live performance and the last time she appeared publicly before news of her graduation broke.
