Akari Kito (鬼頭明里), the voice actress best known for playing Nezuko Kamado in the smash-hit anime Demon Slayer, sent fans into a frenzy after sharing her first-ever “danso” (男装), or male-style, photoshoot on Instagram.
Kito posted the images on August 1, explaining they were taken for the September issue of Seiyu Grand Prix, a magazine covering Japan’s voice acting industry. “I got to try danso for the first time in my life,” the 31-year-old wrote, adding that her regular hair and makeup team handled the transformation and that she left the styling entirely up to them, calling it a rare experience.
In the photos, Kito wore a center-parted wig along with a brown striped shirt and a separate look featuring a beige shirt. She struck a range of poses across the set, from a cool, composed expression to a softer smile with her hand resting on her cheek, a seated pose, and a full-body shot with her sleeves rolled up.
The post quickly drew an outpouring of comments from fans, with many struggling to process how convincing the look was.
