Suisei Hoshimachi to Throw Ceremonial First Pitch at Lotte-SoftBank Game, With Hatsune Miku Cheering On

Popular VTuber Suisei Hoshimachi (星街すいせい) will take the mound for a ceremonial first pitch at a Chiba Lotte Marines game later this month, with virtual singer Hatsune Miku (初音ミク) joining the celebration from the stadium’s big screen.

The appearance was announced for the Marines’ home game against the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks on July 20 at ZOZO Marine Stadium. The matchup is sponsored by Lotte under the banner “Cool and Blue, Summer Has Arrived: Coolish & So Day,” tied to the company’s Coolish and So ice cream brands, both of which feature Hoshimachi and Miku in their commercials. First pitch for the game is set for 5:00 p.m., with the ceremony expected to begin around 4:40 p.m. Hoshimachi will deliver the pitch in person, while Miku will cheer the crowd on via video screen.

Announcing the event, Hoshimachi said she never imagined she would get to stand on a stadium mound, adding that she would aim for a fastball and do her best to energize the ballpark alongside the fans.
