YouTuber Vanbee Parts Ways With Talent Agency Ota Production After Arrest Report

Japanese YouTuber Vanbee (ヴァンビ) has parted ways with his talent agency, Ota Production, with the split taking effect on October 13. The announcement came after news outlets reported that Vanbee had been arrested by Japan’s Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of violating Tokyo’s Public Nuisance Prevention Ordinance, according to Sponichi Annex.

In a statement released the same day, Ota Production said the decision followed a meeting held directly with Vanbee, adding that the departure also came at his own request. “We once again offer our sincerest apologies,” the agency said, according to Oricon, as it addressed the controversy surrounding its former talent.

Neither the agency’s statement nor the news reports made public the specific details of the alleged conduct behind the arrest. It also remains unclear whether Vanbee will continue producing content independently now that he is no longer affiliated with Ota Production.

Who is Vanbee?

Vanbee is a Japanese YouTuber who, until this announcement, was represented by Ota Production, one of Japan’s long-running entertainment agencies, historically known for managing comedians and television personalities alongside its newer roster of online creators.

The agency has not indicated whether it plans to issue further comment as the police investigation proceeds.

A talent agency holding a sit-down meeting, apologizing again, and showing a creator the door, all on the very same day the arrest news breaks? That’s not damage control, honey, that’s a well-rehearsed emergency drill. Japanese agencies have this move down to a science: cut the cord fast, say the magic words "at his own request," and hope the headlines move on by next week. I’m not here to pile on a guy whose actual story we don’t even know yet, but I will say this industry’s instinct to protect the brand over the person tells you everything about where the real priorities sit. Still, these quick exits leave fans holding more questions than answers, and that’s the part nobody in a suit wants to address.
