A new Japanese-language trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has been released on YouTube, featuring the film’s Japanese theme song, “Brand New,” written and performed by Mrs. GREEN APPLE.
Frontman Motoki Omori (Vo, G), a self-proclaimed lifelong Spider-Man fan, wrote the lyrics after holding detailed discussions with the film’s production team. While writing, Omori noticed that Spider-Man’s signature web-shooting hand pose, when turned around, mirrors the universal sign-language gesture for “I love you.” He built the song’s chorus around that discovery, opening it with the line “beyond I love you” (“I love youの先へ”). The song is framed as speaking for Peter Parker’s resolve to keep protecting the people he loves as the “friendly neighborhood” Spider-Man, even while isolated and facing an unprecedented threat.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set four years after “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and follows Peter Parker continuing to protect the city alone as new danger closes in. Alongside the trailer, an interview video with the full band was also released, in which members discuss what drew them to Spider-Man and the meaning behind “Brand New.” In the interview, Omori revealed that he and the film’s producer, Kevin Feige, are pen pals.
Who is Mrs. GREEN APPLE?
Mrs. GREEN APPLE formed in 2013 and made their major-label debut in 2015 with the mini-album “Variety” under EMI Records, going on to produce hits including “Aoto Natsu,” “Boku no Koto” and “Romanticism.” On July 8, 2020, exactly five years after their major debut, the band announced the completion of “Phase 1” and entered a hiatus, returning about a year and eight months later in March 2022 with the announcement of “Phase 2.”
The band won the Japan Record Award in 2023 for “Kesera Sera” and made its first appearance that year on NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen, the broadcaster’s annual New Year’s Eve music special. Their 2024 single “Lilac” has topped streaming charts for over a year and surpassed 600 million cumulative streams, and that July the band held Japan’s youngest-ever stadium tour by a band. They closed out 2024 by winning the Japan Record Award for a second consecutive year.
In May 2025, Mrs. GREEN APPLE won Artist of the Year at Music Awards Japan 2025, and in June they staged the entertainment show “CEREMONY” at K Arena Yokohama. Starting in July 2025, the band became the first Japanese act to collaborate with Tokyo Disney Resort’s “Summer Cool Off” event, and the same month released their 10th-anniversary best album “10” alongside an anniversary live show at Yamashita Pier in Kanagawa. A five-date dome tour, “BABEL no TOH,” is scheduled from October to December 2025. The band’s cumulative domestic streaming plays have surpassed 10 billion.
