Manga creators Akira Toriyama (鳥山明) and Go Nagai (永井豪) have been inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Eisner Awards, often described as the “Academy Awards of the comics industry.” The induction ceremony was held on July 24 in San Diego, in the western United States (July 25 in Japan).
Toriyama, who died in 2024, received the honor posthumously. Nagai, 80, was recognized alongside him for his decades-long body of work. The Eisner Awards are among the most prestigious honors in the American comics industry, and the Hall of Fame category celebrates creators whose work has had a lasting influence on the medium.
