Popular Japanese “big eater” YouTuber Sannen Shokutaro (三年食太郎), who boasts more than 600,000 subscribers, has opened up about the whirlwind romance behind her marriage, revealing that she and her husband had only been seriously involved for around two months before registering their union.
Sannen Shokutaro announced her marriage on August 4, 2026, and on August 10 she answered a fan’s question about her new husband during an Instagram Q&A, which she also covered in a YouTube video. Asked what kind of person he is, she called him “an amazing person” and explained that the two had technically first met two years earlier, though she didn’t remember the encounter. It wasn’t until a chance reunion in June that things took off. “We got really close there,” she said, adding that from the point they actually started interacting properly, “it’s only been around two months, if that.”
According to Sannen Shokutaro, her husband confessed his feelings to her when they reconnected in June. Since they had barely any prior history together, she admitted she was initially wary, saying she “didn’t really trust it” and watched to see how things developed. As he continued to be kind and the two grew closer, he brought her a marriage registration form roughly two to three weeks later. Despite the speed of it all, she said she had already started thinking he was kind and attractive, so the idea felt right. She described the process afterward as moving quickly, admitting that even after marrying, she initially struggled to believe it had really happened. The couple has reportedly never had a single argument since getting together.
Explaining what drew her to him, Sannen Shokutaro said she’s always been attracted to people who are calm, intelligent, good conversationalists, and slow to anger. “I’m someone who can’t really do much on my own, and he supports me a lot, so I’m really grateful,” she said, before adding with a laugh that she also simply finds him handsome.

Two months, people. Two months from "oh hey, didn’t we meet once?" to signing a marriage form, and I am somehow both scandalized and a little bit rooting for her. Japan’s oogui YouTube scene is this strange corner of the internet where women build empires out of eating absurd amounts of ramen on camera, and now one of its biggest stars is out here confirming she said yes partly because "the face is good, honestly." Respect the honesty, truly. I’ll admit the speed-run wedding gives me pause, but she says they haven’t fought once, so who am I to argue with a woman who’s clearly done more research on this man’s temperament than most people do before a second date. Just, maybe ease into buying furniture together.
