Shuri and BE:FIRST’s Ryoki Miyama Announce Marriage and Pregnancy: “We Look Forward to the Birth of New Life”

Celebrity

Actress Shuri (34) and dance & vocal group BE:FIRST member Ryoki Miyama (26) officially announced their marriage and pregnancy on August 29. They revealed that they have already submitted their marriage registration and that Shuri is currently expecting.

Official Joint Statement
The couple released a joint statement:
“We would like to inform you that we have registered our marriage. We are also blessed with a new life, and we felt this was the right time to share the news. Our parents and those who support us are also looking forward to the birth of this child. We will continue to work together to build a peaceful and loving home. We would be grateful if you could watch over us warmly.”

Overcoming a Complicated Background
Miyama, born in 1999 in Nagoya, has also worked as an actor, gaining attention for his performance as the protagonist’s younger brother in the NHK morning drama Tora ni Tsubasa. However, in April of this year, a magazine report revealed that he had allegedly received assets worth approximately 670,000 USD (about 100 million yen) from a former girlfriend, a YouTuber, which sparked rumors of “marriage fraud.”

Following the report, Miyama temporarily suspended his activities with BE:FIRST in May and later left his management agency. He has since announced his intention to focus solely on acting.

Supported by Parents Yutaka Mizutani and Ran Ito
Shuri comes from a prominent entertainment family: her father is actor Yutaka Mizutani, and her mother is former Candies member and actress Ran Ito. She has established herself as a talented actress, most recently starring in the NHK drama Boogie Woogie.

There were reports that Mizutani initially opposed his daughter’s marriage to Miyama. However, after Shuri’s pregnancy was confirmed, discussions within the family intensified, and both families eventually gave their blessing.

Pregnancy Rumors in August
In late August, reports emerged that the couple had visited a ward office in Tokyo, where Shuri was spotted with a visibly rounded belly. Although the pregnancy was widely speculated at the time, details such as the current gestational week or expected due date have not been disclosed.

Mixed Reactions from Fans
Following the announcement, fans have expressed both congratulations and concern. Some BE:FIRST fans voiced worries due to Miyama’s past scandal, while others commented that “taking responsibility by marrying is the right thing to do.”

The couple stated that they intend to continue their careers while building their family. Shuri already has several projects lined up and is expected to continue acting even after giving birth.

Author’s Comment
Honestly, it’s a complicated situation. Shuri, the only daughter of Yutaka Mizutani and Ran Ito, comes from one of the most distinguished families in show business, yet she chose to marry someone who has been called the “man who made a woman give him 100 million yen.” But once pregnancy is involved, there’s no turning back.

For her parents, it must be bittersweet. Still, both Mizutani and Ito likely decided to respect their daughter’s choice in the end. That’s what parents do—no matter how worried they are, they can only support the path their child chooses.

Ryoki is 26. Whatever happened in the past, he’s about to become a father. He needs to take responsibility and build a stable home, leaving behind any frivolous behavior.

As for Shuri, at 34, she knows her own heart. If this is truly the person she loves, then no matter what others say, it’s her life. The entertainment industry is harsh, and the couple will surely face many challenges, but hopefully, they can support each other and overcome them together. After all, the baby is innocent.
