Kento Nakajima (中島健人), a member of the idol group Sexy Zone, is being celebrated online for a comment fans say is peak “Kentei” — the nickname for his famously self-assured yet endearing public persona. The moment came after the production behind the anime “The Elusive Samurai” (逃げ上手の若君) announced that Nakajima would perform the opening theme for its second season.
The anime’s official account revealed on July 4 that Nakajima’s new song “Onigoto” (鬼事) would serve as the Season 2 opening theme, sharing his official comment alongside the news: “As someone who loves history, I want to liven up the OP of ‘The Elusive Samurai’ as the young lord of this era.” He then signed off with a pun on the show’s Japanese title, calling himself “the young lord who is good at looking cool.”
The line quickly spread across social media and was compiled by Togetter, with users reacting with amused exasperation, calling the comment “too much” and “so loud” — meant as affectionate teasing rather than criticism. Several posts said only Nakajima could get away with such an unabashedly confident remark, with one widely shared reaction simply reading, “yep, that’s Kentei.”
“Onigoto” appears on Nakajima’s third single, “Onigoto / Fiction Love,” which includes an anime tie-in edition packaged with a CD and Blu-ray/DVD, plus a photo book and bonus cards. “The Elusive Samurai” Season 2 premieres July 17 on Fuji TV’s late-night Noitamina programming block, airing Fridays at 11:30 p.m., with new episodes also streaming on Prime Video from midnight the same day.
