GACKT Reports Head-On Crash With Driver Who Blamed Him for Being in the Wrong Lane

Singer GACKT (ガクト) says he was involved in a head-on car crash while driving his Jaguar in Malaysia on October 11, 2026, in an incident he described as the first accident of his life. He shared the details in a post on X.

According to GACKT, he and a friend were on their way home after dinner when they stopped at a large intersection, waiting at the front of the right-turn lane with around five cars behind them and another ten in the adjacent left-turn lane. He noted that Malaysia, like Japan, drives on the left side of the road.

GACKT said a car making a right turn from the opposite direction suddenly veered straight toward his Jaguar instead of completing its turn. His friend, sitting in the passenger seat, shouted in alarm as the car closed in. GACKT said he locked eyes with the oncoming driver for a moment, muttering to himself in disbelief, before the car slammed into his.

When the other driver got out, he reportedly asked GACKT’s group why they had stopped their car in the oncoming lane, prompting bystanders to shout back that he was the one who had crossed into the wrong lane. GACKT described the scene as chaotic, with onlookers in an uproar while he himself was simply stunned.

GACKT said the driver kept repeating the same confused complaint for roughly 30 minutes, appearing visibly intoxicated and slurring his words. Once police arrived, GACKT said the driver grew noticeably anxious and switched to repeatedly apologizing in English. GACKT added that, fortunately, no one involved was injured.

Author’s Comment

I love that a man who has spent decades perfecting an untouchable, sword-wielding rock star image got taken down not by a rival or a scandal, but by a guy who couldn’t read which lane he was in. The real plot twist is the driver’s logic: get T-boned by your own wrong turn, then spend thirty straight minutes insisting the other guy parked wrong. That’s not confidence, that’s commitment. GACKT telling this story himself, blow by blow, slurred apology included, is exactly why his social media is must-read material even when nothing musical is happening. No one got hurt, which is the only part that actually matters, but I will be thinking about "Sorry… Sorry" for the rest of the week.
