Fumie Suguri Opens Up About International Marriage to Husband 13 Years Her Junior

Former competitive figure skater Fumie Suguri (村主章枝) will be the featured guest on the season 3 premiere of ABEMA’s original variety series “Damatterarenai Onnatachi” (Women Who Can’t Stay Silent), airing July 10. In the episode, Suguri speaks for the first time about her international marriage to a husband 13 years younger than her, as well as physical health challenges she faced while trying to conceive.

“Damatterarenai Onnatachi season 3” consists of 12 episodes and will broadcast every Friday at 10 p.m. starting July 10. The series follows a range of women living boldly in Japan and abroad, using their stories to spark candid conversation about what happiness means to different women. Season 1 aired from December 2024 to March 2025, followed by season 2 from September to December 2025.

Beyond the main broadcasts, the show’s official YouTube channel and social media accounts have released companion videos featuring other women’s stories, including an interview with Anna Umemiya after she disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis, a look inside Kazuyo Matsui’s lavish celebrity lifestyle, and IMALU’s life with her common-law partner after relocating to Amami Oshima. Combined, videos from the series have surpassed 300 million views.

The season 3 studio hosts remain unchanged from previous seasons: MEGUMI, Ayame Goriki (剛力彩芽), and Hikorohee (ヒコロヒー) will continue leading discussions on the featured women’s values and life choices. Alongside Suguri’s story, the July 10 premiere will also follow a couple who married at what was then Japan’s legal minimum age, before a 2022 revision to the Civil Code raised the marriageable age for women to 18.
