Ado made her Lollapalooza debut over the weekend, closing out the Airbnb Stage at the Chicago festival on August 2 (local time) in front of a sold-out crowd of 15,000.
Lollapalooza 2026 ran from July 30 to August 2, drawing headliners including Charli XCX, Olivia Dean, and Jennie. Ado was one of two Japanese acts on the bill alongside YOASOBI, and her set marked her first time topping the bill at the festival’s Airbnb Stage.
Over 45 minutes, Ado ran through a 10-song set spanning her catalog, including “Sho,” “Usseewa,” “Odo,” and “Kira,” alongside “Aiaia,” “Monstro” (the theme song for the live-action Blue Lock film), and “Shinjidai,” her theme song for One Piece Film Red. She also sprinkled in English between songs to greet the crowd directly. According to organizers, the performance was met with sustained cheers from start to finish.

This is what happens when you stop worrying about whether Western audiences will "get" J-pop and just let the music do the explaining. Say what you want about the anonymity gimmick, but the girl can flat-out perform, and Lollapalooza just found that out the hard way. I fully expect the festival circuit bookers to be fighting over her by next summer.
