The clip, under a minute long, carries a title rendered in mojibake, garbled text caused by a text-encoding error that Japanese internet users often use deliberately to signal something mysterious or glitchy is going on. Buried in the video is a single date: August 15, 2026, suggesting some kind of announcement or comeback is planned for that day. Nijisanji’s parent company Anycolor has not issued any official statement about the video or what it might mean.
Tsumugu debuted with Nijisanji in 2019 but streamed only three times before going completely silent, with no explanation and no graduation announcement ever issued. That left her in an unusual limbo: still technically an active member of the agency’s roster, yet absent for so long that longtime fans have half-jokingly nicknamed her Nijisanji’s resident “ghost VTuber.” Her original 2019 debut cohort has since graduated, and countless newer talents have debuted in the years since, making the sudden sign of life all the more surprising.

Nijisanji has always been strangely sentimental about talents it never officially lets go of, and Tsumugu’s ghost-on-the-roster status is the perfect example: no graduation, no farewell, just silence for years until, apparently, now. Whatever happens on August 15, I guarantee the fan archaeologists have already rewatched those three ancient streams more times than the view counters can keep up with. And can we appreciate the flex of casting three VTubers in a Netflix anime right alongside a professional comedian?
