The world’s first large-scale exhibition dedicated to the indie RPG hit Undertale has been announced, with “UNDERTALE MUSEUM” set to open in Tokyo in February 2027 before moving to Osaka in April.
The exhibition is being organized by the fan-led “UNDERTALE MUSEUM Executive Committee,” with supervision from the game’s creator, Toby Fox. Organizers describe the show as an immersive experience designed to let visitors walk through the game’s world, rather than a standard static display of art and merchandise.
The Tokyo leg will run from February 19 to March 10, 2027, at Exhibition Hall A in Sunshine City, Ikebukuro. The exhibition then heads to Osaka’s Nanko ATC Gallery, where it will be held from April 22 to May 9, 2027. Japanese localization studio 8-4 and merchandise company Fangamer are both listed as cooperating partners on the project.
A teaser website and an official X (formerly Twitter) account for the exhibition have also gone live, with further details promised in the lead-up to the opening.
Who is Toby Fox?
Toby Fox is the American game developer, composer, and writer behind Undertale, the 2015 role-playing game in which every character can be spared instead of fought. Known for its distinctive pixel art, memorable soundtrack, and choice-driven storytelling, Undertale became a cult phenomenon well beyond the indie gaming scene, with its cast of characters going on to appear in everything from plush toys to collaboration merchandise across Japan. Fox followed it with the prequel/sequel Deltarune, which he continues to release in installments.

A fandom throwing its own full-blown museum exhibition, with the actual creator signing off on it? That’s the kind of devotion money can’t buy, and honestly, only Undertale fans could pull it off with this much sincerity. I love that this isn’t some corporate pop-up slapped together to sell keychains, it’s built by the people who’ve been humming that skeleton’s leitmotif for a decade. Sunshine City and ATC Gallery are about to get flooded with visitors who will absolutely try to spare every exhibit label. Consider me first in line for the Osaka run.
