Sega’s video game mascot Sonic the Hedgehog is joining Japanese streaming organization ZETA DIVISION’s CREATOR division for a limited-time collaboration this summer, teaming up with variety streamer k4sen (けいふぉー).
The partnership was announced on July 8. According to ZETA DIVISION, the timing is tied to the fact that both Sonic and k4sen happen to be marking their own 35th-anniversary milestones this year.
The collaboration grew out of “Sonic Racing CrossWorlds The k4sen,” a tournament built around Sega’s racing title Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, which k4sen went on to win. Sonic reportedly took notice of k4sen’s victory and the buzz it generated, calling out, “Hey! That’s quite the excitement. Looks like you’re doing something interesting.” k4sen then invited the character to join ZETA DIVISION, saying the two could “bring the best plays and hype up each other’s 35th anniversary together.”
In a comment released alongside the announcement, Sonic said: “Yo! I’m Sonic, the speed-loving hedgehog who’s always up for an adventure! When I heard there was a hot challenge waiting on the best stage, there was no way I could just sit still! I’ve decided to join ZETA DIVISION and raise some hell together with k4sen. Look forward to seeing what we get up to! Let’s moving!”
ZETA DIVISION says Sonic will now appear across a range of upcoming content with the organization, though specifics on individual projects have not yet been announced.
Who are k4sen and ZETA DIVISION?

Sonic the Hedgehog, created by Sega, is billed as the “world’s fastest hedgehog” — a character known for his love of speed and chili dogs, and for decades of adventures saving the world almost as an afterthought. The character’s debut dates back to 1991, making this year a milestone 35th anniversary for the franchise as well.
