Fuwa Minato Announces New Single ‘ECLIPSE,’ Becomes First Male VTuber to Headline Budokan

Nijisanji VTuber Fuwa Minato (不破湊) has announced a new single, “ECLIPSE,” set for release on December 9, 2026, alongside a solo concert at Nippon Budokan next spring — a venue no male VTuber has ever headlined alone.

The show, titled “Fuwa Minato 2nd LIVE VORTEX,” will take place at the storied Tokyo arena on March 3, 2027. Female VTubers and virtual singers, including Hoshimachi Suisei and Kaf, have previously sold out solo Budokan shows, but Fuwa Minato is the first male performer in the VTuber space to reach that stage. The concert follows his first solo live, “Cheers with You,” after which he continued developing his singing and stage presence across various performances.

Pre-orders for “ECLIPSE” opened on August 31 at 9 p.m. Japan time. The single comes in three editions, all including a random photo card and a lottery code for advance VORTEX tickets, with the two limited editions adding extra items like a system notebook and a bonus CD.

One of the single’s four tracks, “Kiss Me in the Mirror,” will start streaming from midnight on September 1. Its music video premiered on Fuwa Minato’s YouTube channel on August 31 and stars streamer Stanmi Japan. The song was written and produced by SHIROSE of WHITE JAM, known for “Ikebukuro Sunshine,” alongside Dazsta, and is described as an aggressive dance track built around the relationship between two figures reflected in a mirror.

Who is Fuwa Minato?

Fuwa Minato is a male Virtual YouTuber affiliated with Nijisanji, one of Japan’s largest VTuber agencies. Alongside his gaming and talk streams, he has built a reputation as one of Nijisanji’s stronger vocal performers, previously headlining the solo concert “Cheers with You” before moving on to arena-scale production with VORTEX at Budokan.

Further details on VORTEX ticketing are expected to be announced through Nijisanji’s official channels and the event’s hashtag in the coming months.

Let’s just say it: it’s about time a guy got a shot at Budokan. The virtual idol stage has been a girls’-and-vocaloids’ club for years, so watching a Nijisanji boy finally get the arena treatment feels like a genuine structural shift, not just a marketing stunt. That said, I will absolutely side-eye the merch strategy here — three CD editions, random photo cards, lottery codes buried in first-press-only bonuses. Japanese labels never met a scarcity tactic they didn’t love. But underneath the collector-bait, there’s a guy who’s clearly put in real work on his voice since his first solo show, and that part I can’t be cynical about. Go get your Budokan, Minato.
